The original World Match Play Championship is a men’s invitational match play golf using singles match play format.  The event started in 1964 and stayed at its home course of Wentworth until 2007 when it moved abroad until its last event in 2014. It was well known for various sponsors including Piccadilly, Suntory, Toyota, Cisco, HSBc and Volvo.
