Event Rules
| SELECTION 1. The Greatest Ryder Cup is picked from the Match Play World Golf Rankings which can be found via the footer menu on this site. 2. One player from each side was picked with the best record in each period from 1927-55, 1957-1977, 1979-1999 and 2001-2023. 3. One pick was a legacy pick for the player from each side who has made the greatest contribution to the success of the event over time. This was Tony Jacklin for GB & Europe and Jack Nicklaus for the United States. 4. The remaining 7 picks were decided by the all time Match Play World Golf Ranking subject to playing a minimum of 10 games. TOURNAMENT 1. Results in four-balls and foursomes are decided by combining the rankings of the players from each team. The pair with the highest combined ranking win the match and a point for their team 2. Results in singles are decided by the player with the highest singles ranking winning the match and a point for their team. 3. If a match finishers level it will be called a tie and half a point awarded to both teams. 4. Matches are randomly drawn using the randomiser in the Teams event set up. |
