
Following Europe’s dramatic win in the 2025 Ryder Cup, Rory McIlroy retains his place as the number one in the Match Play World Golf Rankings. These are based on the points won per match across all team and individual match play events over the last 4 years.
Rory’s record of 3.5 points from 5 games slightly reduced his overall points per game to 0.806, but this is still the best of any current player.
The second day four-balls also saw him play his 100th professional match play game and Rory McIlroy’s career match play record is the best of anyone who has played more than 100 games. He also has the 2nd best record of any other player who has played more than 50 games, behind Luke Donald.

Special mention to Team USA’s J.J. Spaun who to date has played 7 games with a win ratio of 0.714, which would be enough to place him 3rd if he can keep this form going and reach the minimum of 8 games for the rankings.
